Dr. Marc Ong obtained his medical degree from National University of Singapore in 2010, received his postgraduate Masters of Medicine (Surgery) degree in 2015, exited as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) in 2018 and was accorded Specialist accreditation in General Surgery by the Ministry of Health, Singapore in the same year.
He has sub-specialty interests in Hernia Surgery. He received his advanced fellowship training at the prestigious St Luke’s International Hospital in Tokyo under the tutelage of master surgeons Dr Kiyotaka Imamura, Dr Gen Shimada and Dr Taketo Matsubara and is experienced in advanced minimally invasive hernia surgery techniques.
On top of his clinical practice, Dr Marc has a great passion for teaching and is actively involved in under-graduate and post-graduate education. He is an appointed clinical lecturer with Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine along with Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He has received numerous teaching awards including the prestigious Dean’s Honour Roll Award for Teaching Excellence (2019/2020) from National University of Singapore (School of Medicine). He is also the Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program under the National Health Group Cluster. He has also published a textbook on surgical cases for medical students and surgical residents entitled “Mastery in General Surgery Short Cases” in 2022.
